A group of 1300 “jovencitas eufóricas” sang, cheered, and wrestled with security guards outside the W Hotel in Santiago’s posh El Golf neighborhood, hoping to catch a glimpse of the one and only Canadian heartthrob… JUSTIN BIEBER!!!!!!

I asked these girls if I could take their picture with the Chilean flag and their Justin Bieber fan club cards. Gracias chiquilllas! I told them I was from the US, and one exclaimed, "Do you know Justin!?" I explained that he's Canadian and just a tad younger than I… hehe. It was darker than my iPod camera would have liked, so I played around with iPhoto to make it artsier.

The crowd’s energy made my inner teenybopper swoon!

Justin Bieber had tweeted, “Chile is beautiful” and this message inspired the giddy 10-year-old chilenas to crowd around the hotel. The superstar actually arrived the following day.

Chile has become a goldmine for traveling music acts. Guns ‘N Roses, Eric Clapton, and System of a Down have been here in the last few weeks.

Who’s next? The one and only Britney Spears. She’s coming with an entourage of 170, and 30,000 tickets have already been sold. The general admission tickets are 25.000 pesos (about $50.)
